Senanis Rubaiyat

Four stanzas, one afternoon

A Senanis Rubaiyat gathers four quatrains into a longer poem. Each line remains a six-word Senanis Moment, while rhyme carries images and reflections from stanza to stanza.

Senanis Rubaiyat

The Ideal Afternoon

It’s not far, actually quite near.

Soft jazz melodies tickle my ear.

Cozy up with coffee or tea.

I’ll come for many a year.

As always, many people to see.

Chattering voices overlay others’ typing spree.

Near windows, not an empty seat.

The drink ready, a shouted decree.

Menu diverse, some choose to eat.

Barista always asks, add something sweet?

Two leather chairs, ottomans so small.

Relax, and put up your feet.

Notebook open, back to the wall.

Experimenting with various types of scrawl.

Forgetting to leave, deep in thrall.

Looking up, realizing, it’s now nightfall.
